Aimee Spencer is an Account Manager at Consolidated Insurance Brokers, with experience in insurance since 2006.
She began in rural New South Wales working with small business, farm and crop insurance, and built broad experience from there across commercial property, business insurance, transport, heavy motor and liability.
Aimee joined Consolidated Insurance Brokers in 2022. Her background spans agency work, broking and transport-focused roles, and that mix is why she tends to look at how a client’s property, vehicles, operations and liabilities fit together rather than treating each policy on its own.
Underinsurance and What a Building Would Actually Cost
Aimee pays particular attention to underinsurance, and specifically to the gap between what a building is worth and what it would cost to rebuild.
A market valuation and a bank valuation both answer a different question from the one an insurance policy asks. Aimee’s habit is to test whether the sum insured reflects the cost of putting the building back rather than the figure that was carried over from last year.
Why the Timing of a Liability Policy Matters
Some liability cover responds to when an incident happened. Other cover responds to when a claim is made against you, which is how Professional Indemnity and Management Liability policies generally work.
Aimee explains that difference to clients because it changes what continuous cover means. With a claims-made policy, the retroactive date and an unbroken history of cover can matter as much as the limit on the schedule.
