Based at our Brisbane office.
Clayton Rowlings is an Account Manager at Consolidated Insurance Brokers in New Farm, working mainly with medium-sized construction and trade businesses, design-and-construct contractors and retailers.
He joined Consolidated Insurance Brokers in August 2021 as a broker assistant, having first worked with the firm earlier that year as a contracted marketing executive. He became an Account Executive in 2023 and stepped into the Account Manager role in May 2026.
His day-to-day work is pre-renewal reviews, remarketing, contract insurance checks, policy changes, and helping clients understand how their cover responds as the business changes. Much of it sits across business packages, contract works, liability, and financial lines, the policies that cover financial and professional exposures rather than physical damage.
Before insurance, Clayton ran his own marketing business, so he has been the small business owner on the other side of the conversation. It gave him first-hand experience of small-business and creative-sector risks.
His areas of experience include construction and trade businesses, design-and-construct contracting, business packages and contract works, liability and financial lines, retail businesses, and business interruption and sums insured.
From Marketing Into Broking
Clayton came to insurance from marketing, and ran his own marketing business before he joined Consolidated Insurance Brokers in August 2021.
It is a less common route into broking, and a useful one. Running his own business gave him first-hand experience of the risks small businesses and creative businesses carry, which is the position a good many of his clients are in when they call.
Inside the business he moved from marketing into broking, became an Account Executive in 2023, and stepped into the Account Manager role in May 2026.
What Clayton Looks For
Clayton pays particular attention to product and efficacy exclusions: the wording that can take cover away where a product or a piece of work simply fails to do the job it was meant to do, rather than causing damage or injury. It is easy to miss, and it tends to matter most to businesses that manufacture, supply or install something.
He also looks closely at the boundary between professional indemnity and physical workmanship. Design and advice sit on one side of that line and the physical work sits on the other, and the two are not always insured under the same policy.
So for a business that both designs and installs, his questions are about how the work actually splits. Which part of the job is design, which part is physical work, whether each part is properly insured, and what is being subcontracted out, because subcontracting can create exposure of its own.
The same thinking runs through the routine work. A pre-renewal review, a contract insurance check or a mid-term policy change is usually where the gap between what a business does now and what its policy was built around first shows up.
Why Clayton Contributes to Our Insurance Guides
Clayton writes for the guides published by Consolidated Insurance Brokers on the subjects he deals with in his own accounts: subcontractors and liability, and the cover a stock-heavy retailer may already hold without knowing it.
Where he writes or reviews an article, the job is to make sure it reflects how these policies behave in practice and answers the questions construction, trade and retail businesses actually ask, rather than repeating a product description.

Clayton Rowling is an outstanding insurance broker. He took the time to understand my needs and explained all my options in a clear and straightforward way. He is very responsive, easy to talk to, and truly committed to finding the best coverage. I feel confident in the insurance choices I made with his guidance. Highly recommend Clayton for anyone looking for a reliable and professional broker.
Clayton Rowlings did a wonderful job for me. He's very knowledgeable on everything about insurance. He's also an excellent communicator, being able to listen and understand my needs and then advise me accordingly. He got me a deal about 30% cheaper than the one I got from my existing stockbroker. This occasion of getting an insurance quote was the best experience I have ever had so far in my lifetime and I'm 67 years old!
Clayton Rowlings from CIB recently helped me out putting in place an insurance policy for a commercial property I purchased. Clayton was very quick to get back to, explained things clearly and the policy I settled on saved me $1000 compared to alternate quotes. Definitely recommend.
Honestly, I can’t fault my insurance broker Clayton at all. He went above and beyond to sort out public liability for my textile recycling business, which isn’t easy — most insurance companies don’t even want to cover this line of work. He compared quotes from a bunch of places, got me different prices, and made sure I ended up with the best deal possible. He was super thorough and explained everything clearly, even giving me advice on other things I might need for my business down the track. What really stood out was how he treated me like a person, not just a sale or a dollar sign. Finding someone this genuine, professional, and easy to deal with is rare. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for insurance done properly and with care.
Great service start to finish! Clayton was so helpful, so patient whilst I had to gather documents etc. so friendly too. Overall, would highly recommend them to anyone! Ask for Clayton! 😀
