Nickola Brown is a Broker Assistant at Consolidated Insurance Brokers in New Farm, Brisbane. She supports clients and the broking team across landlord, home and contents, commercial property and business insurance.
Nickola came into insurance in 2022, and she came into it deliberately. Working in customer service between 2020 and 2022, she spoke with people whose homes had been hit by the Black Summer fires and the 2022 floods. Watching what being uninsured or underinsured did to those families is why she chose insurance as a career.
Before joining Consolidated Insurance Brokers she spent nearly four years in property claims, specialising in high-complexity claims and dispute resolution. That work taught her what actually happens after a loss: the information an insurer needs, how the detail in a policy gets tested, and why an inaccurate sum insured or an incomplete disclosure can become critical exactly when a client can least afford it.
She joined Consolidated Insurance Brokers in 2026 to put those lessons to work earlier, before something goes wrong.

What Claims Taught Her
Of everything her claims experience taught her, rebuild cost is what she watches most closely. What it costs to rebuild a building is often misunderstood, and it can be very different from what the building would sell for. She has seen what insuring an asset for too little does to an owner, and she would rather see a sum insured checked against a current rebuild figure than have the gap show up at claim time.
She puts the same weight on accurate disclosure. Nickola has seen first-hand how a gap between what an insurer was told and what was actually the case can limit what a claims officer or a dispute resolution consultant can do for the client. Being straight with an insurer when a policy is taken out or renewed is far easier than arguing the point after a loss.
How Nickola Works
Nickola enjoys explaining insurance in practical terms. Good service, to her, is not processing a policy. It is understanding what the client is trying to protect, finding the problems before a claim is ever lodged, and explaining the answer in a way that makes sense.
Her Role at Consolidated Insurance Brokers
As a Broker Assistant, Nickola supports renewals, new-business quotations, remarketing and day-to-day client servicing. She works with the brokers to compare what a client needs against what insurers offer, flag gaps in existing arrangements and keep policy information current as circumstances change.
She is building her commercial broking knowledge across commercial property, business packages and cyber packages.
