Sheryll Todd is an Account Director at Consolidated Insurance Brokers in New Farm, Brisbane. She works with transport operators, heavy motor fleets, earthmoving businesses and other plant-intensive operations to protect the vehicles, equipment and people their work depends on.
Sheryll started in insurance in 2000, selling accident insurance and moving into territory management early in her career. In 2004 she moved into commercial insurance, spending four years with Australian Income Insurance Solutions, the business that later became Consolidated Insurance Brokers. She joined the firm in March 2010 and has been there since.
Sheryll holds a Diploma of Insurance Broking and has built her working life around transport and heavy motor risk: trucks and prime movers, motor fleets, earthmoving and plant, and the liability that sits behind moving other people's goods.
Her areas of experience include transport and heavy motor insurance, motor fleet insurance, earthmoving and plant insurance, marine cargo and carriers legal liability, and commercial building insurance for business and property owners.
Transport and Heavy Motor
Transport is where Sheryll is strongest. Her clients often carry cover across many vehicles, pieces of equipment and liability exposures at once, and she starts by understanding how the business actually runs before she looks at how the policies are put together.
That work covers heavy motor, trucks and prime movers, motor fleets, transport operators' liability, and marine cargo and carriers legal liability.
She also works on earthmoving and plant insurance, including site-preparation risks and the downtime a business faces when a machine it depends on is out of action, and on management liability for transport businesses.

Sheryll has worked with transport clients who grew from one-person operations into businesses running more than 300 prime movers. Watching that happen has taught her how much changes on the way.
Fleets grow, contracts get bigger, staff numbers rise, assets multiply and responsibilities widen. Insurance that suited the business a few years ago can quietly stop matching the operation it is meant to protect.
